Places To Eat: Key West + Giveaway

by naneraday on January 7, 2013

One of the things that I always miss while away(I’m looking at you giardiniera hummus) are my “normal eats” however I always bring a few tastes of home to balance me out.  This trip was apples, BelVitas, Mike’s fave bars, and Justin’s almond butta packs.  Once we arrived, I picked up bananas, cereal, and milk.  I know it doesn’t sound like much but it  sure came in handy

Hotel eating calls for getting creative.  BelVitas in my cereal baby(the movie Friday, anyone??).  While these were some of my favorite eats, here is the funner of the fare consumed in Key West.

Breakfast at Blue Heaven

We heard about this place last year but never made it so this year it was a must.  We foolishly decided to go at 11 am on New Years Day so we wound up waiting around two hours for a table.  It was worth the wait, period.  Since the buildup of that meal lead to us inhaling our meals, we decided we should go again in order to actually taste and savor the flavors.

We adored the laid back style of this place.  You literally feel like you are in someone’s backyard – equipped with chickens and roosters freely roaming around.

Since I am not your key lime pie on a stick kind of gal, I seek out  the cold and creamy desserts instead

Our Beloved Kohrs Brother Frozen Custard which we refer to as Sprinkles.  Their sprinks are out of this world.  You have to try them to believe me.  Only two sprinkles trips out of ten days is a success in itself however we did find a cute new gelato shop, Duetto Pizza and Gelato

And you know I can’t deny chocolate covered raisins from Kilwin’s either.

Another new fave is lunch at Help Yourself

In an effort to prolong our vacation high, my last vaca post(tomorrow) will cover dinner and drinks.

In honor of the one thing I missed most, I am hosting a Chef Earls giveaway.  You will get to try their hummus, salsa, and guar – just like I did.  To enter:

I have only tried the hummus, but it is pretty delicious. I would love to try the salsa!

I’m going to Key West/Sunset Island in March, so I will def look at your recommendations. Thanks!

Hummus for me, too. Only the best condiment/dip/meal there is out there, of course.
