Hanging with the Oldies

by naneraday on April 29, 2012

Hola amigos!  As we wrap up one of our last nights on the island I am feeling so blessed to have this lil ol blog so when we are 80 we can look back at all the fun we had on our honeymoon.  However the fun isn’t over yet and here is what ya’ll missed while we were beachin’ and Jeepin’ it up

off roading baby

In an effort to try all the local hot spots, Mike and I got our morning meal fix at Cafe Mamasonga…it translates to ” hot big momma” lol.

The french toast was out of the world way to start the day on a carby note.  Not as good as my mommas but pretty damn close.  The local bread gives it a nice chewy texture and I was loving the heavy handed cinnamon and powdered sugar sprinkling on them.

mm mmm good!

With some full bellies, it was off to the beaches for us Vodicka’s.

We had just way too much fun to not rent it again and we particularly wanted it to hit Sol Food, a must-go food truck on the island that is only open on the weekends.

We went halvsies on a Bob Marley(jerk chicken with a pineapple guava chutney) and washed it down with the most amazing guava sun tea

And as if we hadn’t indulged enough for one day, we spotted a little festival going on equipped with some pretty damn good ice-cream.

everythings better with sprinkles

Just what we needed after a hot day at the beach.  We have made it to about 10 of the 42 beaches on the island – Blue beach being our favorite.  In the least non complaining way ever, the sun sure takes a lot out of you and by the time we made it back to the hotel we were both beat and ready for a mini siesta before heading into town for dinner at Biekes Bistro(a.k.a El Patio).

Throughout the trip we have met some really incredible people but its was the “senior citizen” group that made us crack up the most and “Cousin Bob” was from Ottawa….go figure

Nothing like having a few cocktails with four 75 year olds and they even invited us over for breakfast today

Casa de Oro

What a beautiful place.  Nothing like eggs, emuffs with jelly, sautéed taters, bloody marys and coffee to start the day off.    After chowing, we chatted for a bit before walking back to the hotel to lay by the pool for the remainder of the day.

Time to get some rest as we have a full agenda planned for our last day in paradise.
